About The Programme
Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) is a two-year, four-semester postgraduate program under CBCS covering sports science, training, psychology, biomechanics, research, and teaching practicum, offered by The University of Burdwan.

Our M.P.Ed. programme provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training in yoga, exercise physiology, sports psychology, biomechanics, research methodology, ICT, sports medicine, coaching, officiating, and game specialization, preparing students as skilled educators, coaches, and sports professionals.

Eligibility
Qualification
Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent (BPE) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/DA/SP categories).
Medical Fitness
The candidate must be medically fit.
Others
• Candidate must have a sports certificate from any state level or national level recognised sports institute.
• Candidates must be able to read , write and express in Bengali and English.
• The candidates must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of West Bengal for at least 5 years uninterruptedly on the date of application.
• Any other norms as per the concerned authorities / council / board / university.

Take the first step towards a rewarding career
Create an ABC ID
Procure a mandatory Academic Bank of Credits (ABC/APAAR) ID from the National Academic Depository.
Online Registration and Application
Visit the official Burdwan University Admissions portal during the admission window (typically May–June). Fill out the registration form, pay the required application fee, and upload scanned copies of your academic marksheets and photograph.
Entrance Exam and Field Trial
Eligible applicants must appear for the university-conducted entrance examination and a mandatory field trial/physical fitness test.
Merit List
The university releases a provisional merit list based on entrance scores, academic performance, and field trial results.
Career in Physical Education
After completing M.P.Ed., graduates can pursue careers as college/university physical education lecturers, sports coaches, fitness trainers, sports scientists, researchers, sports psychologists, or administrators. They become eligible for NET/SET exams, enabling teaching positions in higher education. Opportunities also exist in sports academies, Olympic associations, sports federations, corporate wellness programs, sports journalism, and government sports departments like SAI (Sports Authority of India). With advanced training in biomechanics, nutrition, and rehabilitation, M.P.Ed. holders can also work as athletic trainers or sports medicine assistants.
